1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using the Browser Backup — History & Bookmarks browser extension ("Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please uninstall the Extension.

2. Description of Service

Browser Backup is a browser extension for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge that enables users to:

  • Export and restore browsing history and bookmarks locally on their device.
  • Schedule automated local backups of browser data.
  • Scan for and clean duplicate bookmarks.
  • Check bookmarks for broken or dead links.
  • Export bookmarks in universal Netscape HTML format (Pro).

All data processing occurs 100% locally on your device. No browsing data is transmitted to our servers.

3. Free Tier Limitations

The Free Edition of Browser Backup includes the following strict limitations, enforced at the service worker level and not bypassable by editing backup files:

  • History export & restore: Limited to the last 7 days of browsing history.
  • Bookmark export & restore: Limited to a maximum of 30 bookmarks.
  • Broken link checker: Scans only the first 15 bookmarks.
  • Duplicate cleaner: Scanning and viewing only — batch cleaning requires Pro.
  • Export formats: JSON only. CSV, HTML viewer, and Netscape HTML require Pro.
  • Scheduled backups: Not available in Free. Manual "Back up now" is available but subject to 7-day history and 30-bookmark caps.
  • Encryption: AES-256-GCM password encryption requires Pro.

These limits are enforced both in the extension interface and inside the background service worker. Importing a manually edited backup file that contains more data than the Free tier allows will result in automatic truncation — only the permitted amount will be restored.

4. Pro License

The Pro Edition is available via a one-time purchase of €14.99, granting a lifetime license valid on up to 2 devices simultaneously. A Pro license includes:

  • Unlimited history export and restore (all-time, 30d, 90d, custom date range).
  • Unlimited bookmark export and restore.
  • Universal Netscape HTML export (cross-browser compatibility).
  • 1-Click Bookmark Duplicate Cleaner.
  • Full Broken Link Checker for all bookmarks.
  • Scheduled automatic backups with rotation and incremental mode.
  • AES-256-GCM password-protected exports.
  • CSV and interactive offline HTML export.
  • All future version updates at no additional cost.

5. License Activation & Device Limits

Pro license keys are issued and validated through Lemon Squeezy (our payment processor). During activation, the extension sends your license key and purchase email to the Lemon Squeezy API (https://api.lemonsqueezy.com) for verification. No browsing data is included in this request.

You may deactivate a device at any time from the "Pro" tab of the extension to free up a license slot and activate on a different device.

6. Refund Policy

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with the Pro license within 30 days of purchase, contact us at info@browserbackup.com and we will issue a full refund, no questions asked.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Share, resell, or redistribute Pro license keys.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or bypass the Pro license validation system.
  • Use the Extension for any unlawful purposes.
  • Circumvent Free tier limitations through manual file editing, scripting, or any technical means.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Browser Backup is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. While we strive to provide a reliable and accurate backup of your data, we cannot guarantee that backup files will be complete, error-free, or suitable for every purpose. Always maintain your own additional copies of critical data.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BrowserBackup.com shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the Extension.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be announced on browserbackup.com. Continued use of the Extension after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
